Instead of studying the memory, I look at the energy of the feeling about the memory. If I feel negative about it, I know I have a choice to reframe it. I don't want to hold on to the memory via guilt, anger, etc. There is a price to pay for that - a price I may no longer be willing to pay at this time. Usually if I have a negative memory about something and another person has a positive (sister and brother memories of family life growing up) I can link it to how I cared about my self, if I felt empowered or sort of helpless, etc

I've been taking psychology this semester and we've had lectures on memory, and it's far too easily altered by ourselves or others. In other words, what we remember may not be anywhere near to what actually happened, we can even come up with false memories of things that have never occured. So I've realised that there's no way of knowing for sure if anything happened the way I remember it, the closest I get is when talking to others and we all have somehwat the same memories...

This is so evocative: sad, mysterious, lonely, angry, confused and much more. It is pure poetry in a beautiful, but disquieting way.
